Paama

Paama

Paama

Paama, the smallest of Malampa Province's main islands, lies south of Ambrym. It's surrounding waters are home to an abundance of marine animals including turtles, and dolphins, and on land, smiling faces are also in abundance and are ready to greet you when you arrive on the island.

During the day especially when the weather is fine, neighbouring islands are clearly visible from various locations on Paama, including Ambrym and furious Lopevi which is now an uninhabited volcanic island that is constantly spewing smoke and lava.

Every evening, the night sky radiates a red glow of Lopevi and Ambrym's twin volcanos which can both be clearly seen from the island.

The women of the island are very proud of their handicrafts woven from coconut leaves and the pandanus and they can teach you a thing or two.
