Quarantine Information

As an island nation, Vanuatu is relatively free from major pest and diseases that are found in other countries. It is of vital importance to maintain this relatively pest free status. Please help us keep it that way by observing the following information.

On arrival you will be given a form to fill in. This is a legal document and must be filled in correctly. A yes for "Have" and a no for "Don't Have".

A Quarantine officer is available at all times should you require further information on quarantine issues.

Products you can bring into Vanuatu

These are low risk items which has been processed, such as:

• Canned food 
• Cooked fruit and vegetables
• Cooked products
• Dried products
• Freeze dried products
• Frozen fruit and vegetables 
• Pickled fruit and vegetables
• Preserved fruit and vegetables
• spices

These items must be commercially packed and properly labelled.

Products you can bring into Vanuatu as accompanied baggage

Special conditions apply to these items. Generally, they will be inspected and treated if necessary.

Live Plants

Such as:

  • Cut flowers
  • Plant cuttings
  • Nursery stock

Animal Products

Such as:

  • Yoghurt
  • Salami
  • Sausages
  • Live animals
  • Animal skin
  • Feathers
  • Honey

Non-Animal and Plant Products

Items which must be declared on arrival such as:

  • Agriculture Tools
  • Camping equipment
  • Used sports gears (shoes, golf club, etc).

Note: Plant, plant product, animal and animal products can only be imported into Vanuatu under specific import requirements. A heavy penalty applies for breach of Vanuatu Quarantine laws.
