Preparation for 2022 and Border Openings

Don’t leave it all to the last minute to start your preparation for welcoming back visitors.

While we still have plenty of work ahead of us to increase the vaccination rates, make sure you look after your business too.

As you think about getting your business up and running again, here are a few things or tips on what you can do right now:

Websites and Digital

  • Update your information on the Vanuatu Tourism Office websitewww.vanuatu.travel - this includes photos and videos and deals;
  • Update your information on all website – booking.com, Expedia, or any other pages you are listed on
  • Give your Facebook profile and photos a refresh
  • Make sure your website is up to date with new health and safety protocols and information and update your rates, prices and any changes to your businesses
  • Make sure your company is listed on “Google My Business
  • Share a social media post with all your vaccinated staff

  • Get in touch with past guests telling them how you have Kept Vanuatu Beautiful
  • Have you posted on your social media your teams vaccination status and triple CCC accreditation – time to let them know you operate a Covid safe business


COVID-19 protocols and communication

  • Make sure your staff have attended the Safe Business Operations (SBO) training and your tourism business has been audited
  • Put up your Safe Business Operations (SBO) Stickers, and this includes the “Clean, Care and Checked” stickers once you have been successfully audited and certified
  • Introduce your COVID Safety Officer through your social media channels

On property

  • Update the guest compendium and information in your rooms
  • Highlight a local dish or usage of fresh organic produces on your menu
  • Check your supply chains – could you change to a local supplier

Networks

  • Make sure your brochure and collateral material are current
  • Make contact with your partners – Vanuatu Travel Information Centres (TIC), bus drivers, inbound and outbound operators
  • Start talking to new business partners and reminding people of the experience you provide

International marketing

  • Send your latest deals to the VTO to publish on their international websites and use for PR programs - www.vanuatu.travel/au/deals and www.vanuatu.travel/nz/deals
  • Have you got a database of past guests – time to reconnect with them and invite them to come back in 2022 – send a little video to remind them of the Vanuatu Moments they created while with you.
  • Have you made upgrades or changes to your business – time to let past visitors, and the VTO know.
  • Update travel trade partners on your product – images, opening plans, new packages, Safe Business Operations measures undertaken.
  • Start setting border opening rates and packages.
  • Review marketing intelligence reports on Keeping Vanuatu Beautiful Facebook.

    Staffing
  • Touch base with your staff to see how they are going and what their plans are in terms of returning to work.
  • Make plans for re-engaging and re-training staff.
