Frequently Asked Questions
Most visitors arrive at Port Vila's Bauerfield airport; some international flights use Santo. The process is immigration, baggage and biosecurity, then a short walk to transfers, taxis or hotel desks. It is a small Pacific airport, not a large hub, so queues move at local pace. Have your documents and food declarations ready to keep the line moving.
They can feel crowded when several international flights land close together, and again at school-holiday peaks. Even then, these are compact terminals. Allow extra time for immigration and for collecting bags before a domestic connection. A pre-booked transfer helps when the arrivals hall is full.
After customs you will find currency exchange or ATMs in Port Vila, taxi and transfer desks, and hotel pick-ups. SIM cards and basic snacks are usually available, but do not count on every service late at night. On Santo the offering is smaller. Sort Vatu and your ride into town before you leave the airport if you arrive after dark.
