Frequently Asked Questions

Most visitors fly into Bauerfield International Airport in Port Vila, on Efate. Some international services also reach Santo. Airlines listed by the Vanuatu Tourism Office include Jetstar, Qantas, Virgin Australia, Solomon Airlines, Fiji Airways and Aircalin, and those schedules change. There is no passenger land border; air is the usual arrival.
Compare total travel time, the arrival airport, and how much buffer you need before any domestic connection. Direct flights into Port Vila are simplest for first visitors; Santo can suit a northern holiday if a service matches your dates. Schedules change by season, so check the current week rather than last year's pattern. Allow for a possible evening arrival and a pre-booked transfer.
Book as soon as your dates are firm, especially for school holidays and the drier mid-year months, when seats and popular hotels fill. Leave time after booking to arrange any visa, vaccinations and domestic add-ons. Last-minute seats sometimes appear, but island hotels and outer-island flights reward earlier planning. Recheck airline schedules close to departure, because they do change.
