Pentecost

Pentecost

Pentecost

Pentecost Island lies 190 kilometres due north of capital Port Vila and is known as Pentecôte in French and Pentikos in Bislama.

There is a variety of tours and excursions to experience the culture, people, and beauty of the environment, which can all be organised by the Santo Travel call center on phone + 678 36616 and + 678 7104029. You can also talk to your bungalow hosts and they will be able to organize village tours, hikes, snorkelling, outrigger canoe paddling, and visiting historical sites and landmarks.

Pentecost Island has become famous throughout the world for the land diving ritual (Nagol or N’gol) which occurs every Saturday between April and June. The ritual influenced the invention of bungee jumping by Kiwi AJ Hackett. The island is also home to Vanuatu's founding father of Independence Fr. Walter Lini who became the first Prime Minister in July 30th 1980.
