Useful Information:

  • Entrance Fees: To access tourist sites, you will need to pay mandatory entrance fees ranging from 500VT to 2000VT per person, depending on the location. These sites do not accept credit card payments, and ATMs may not be available nearby, so be sure to carry enough cash, especially when leaving Port Vila for the islands of Tanna, Santo, and Pele.

  • Activity Reservations: The activities included in this itinerary require reservations at least 24 hours in advance. Reservations can be made by contacting the providers directly via phone or email. Wait for their confirmation before considering the activity as booked. For added security, you can ask a travel center at the Vanuatu Tourism Office to book your activities. Payment will be made through the travel center.

  • Accommodation Reservations: To book a local beach bungalow, you can contact the provider directly. However, internet access can be challenging, and response time is not guaranteed. Alternatively, you can use the travel center to make your reservations for village accommodations, homestays, or bungalows.

  • Respect Local Customs: Vanuatu is home to a rich cultural heritage, and many communities maintain traditional customs and kastom. It’s important to show respect by following local customs during your visit. When entering a village, wait to be greeted by a host, and avoid wandering into private areas without permission.

  • Dress Modestly: When visiting villages, dress modestly out of respect for local customs. It is recommended to cover your shoulders and wear knee-length shorts or skirts.

  • Photography: Always ask for permission before taking photos of people, especially in villages. Some community members may not want their picture taken due to cultural beliefs.
