The blue holes make Vanuatu truly unique! Each one is distinct, offering a special experience and atmosphere that makes visiting them all worthwhile.

On Efate, you’ll find one blue hole: the Blue Lagoon, located a 45-minute drive from downtown Port Vila. The site is well-prepared for spending a half or full day with family or friends. An entrance fee (cash only) is required. Food options on-site are limited. The Blue Lagoon is very popular among locals on weekends, creating a lively atmosphere—you’ll likely see skilled acrobats jumping into the water using the ropes set up for this purpose. For a quieter experience, consider visiting during the week.

On Espiritu Santo, there are three main blue holes to explore: Riri Blue Hole (where you can take a traditional canoe ride), Matevulu Blue Hole (which can be reached by kayak from nearby coastal hotels for the more adventurous), and Nanda Blue Hole. These are about a 20-minute drive from Luganville. Entrance fees apply at each site, and there are no food services available on-site.

You can also visit the blue hole on the island of Malo. This visit needs to be arranged in advance through a local provider or the local travel centre.
