Port Vila Restaurant Guide
Port Vila has, on many occasions, been dubbed the ‘gourmet capital of the South Pacific’, and not without reason! The country’s French/English influence on the Melanesian flavours mean that you’ll come across a variety of delightful dishes, and with over 40 restaurants in Port Vila, and more around Efate, your biggest struggle will be deciding where to eat.
Francesca's Beach Club
We’re cheating a little bit by calling this a Port Vila restaurant, as it’s technically on the Havannah Coast, but we promise you that the journey is worth it! The stunning setting overlooking Havannah Harbour, with cabanas for larger groups, and tables under vines for smaller groups, will leave you in awe before you’ve even looked at the menu.
The owner, Francesca, has brought some of her favourite dishes from her native Italy, and added a Vanuatu twist. The result? A delightful meal in a stunning setting.
Learn MoreStonegrill
Vanuatu's steak is well-reputed because of just how tender the beef is. The local cattle eat coconut husks as they roam freely through the trees, which makes the product particularly delicious.
Stonegrill uses this steak, and you cook it yourself to your preferred texture on hot volcanic rock, with some sides included.
In addition to the steaks, the seafood menu is quite impressive with Stonegrill offering local, fresh fish like poulet and shellfish. Be sure to check out the delectable wine list, and save room for dessert (you can thank us for that suggestion later).
Learn MoreK2 Kitchen
Catering to a wide array of palates (vegans, vegetarians, dietary requirements etc), K2 Kitchen offers a relaxed, friendly dining experience, built around converted shipping containers. The menu takes global favourites, and adds a range of special Vanuatu twists to deliver unforgettable dining experiences.
The produce comes from all around Vanuatu, such as green mangoes from Malekula, tomatoes from the Taleva Coast and Nangae nut from Santo. They offer catering to holiday homes and villas, and if you find yourself really enjoying your dining experience, they have a range of in-house spices and food gifts to take home.
With a playground for kids and great friendly service, it's somewhere the whole family can go to enjoy an afternoon out.
Learn MoreBlue Marlin Club

The restaurant is also well known for its rum bar and delightful ceviche, so be sure to try these out (either simultaneously or separately) for a cracking meal.
Le Cafe du Village
With stunning views (like what you see on the left) across Port Vila Harbour, Le Cafe du Village beckons with its ever-changing menu which harnesses French-Mediterranean culinary traditions and pairs them with fresh, local produce. Learn MoreL'Houstalet
A stalwart of the Port Vila dining scene, L'Houstalet invites its guests to feel as though they're staying at a 'well-catered home farm stay' with its decor and hearty, fresh French cuisine.
Its steak and local shellfish dishes have guests continuing to return, while it also lists a range of alternate meats on its menu. The wine list is also well-regarded and worth sampling.
Learn MoreAu Fare
The beauty of Au Fare (other than the amazing views over Port Vila Harbour), is that you can enjoy some delicious French/Melanesian fusion cuisine and pick your lobster straight from the tank. The restaurant also has amazing fresh seafood, and only works with the freshest of produce.
