Travel to Vanuatu

We are so excited to welcome international travelers back to Vanuatu. We have been Keeping Vanuatu Beautiful for you and invite you and your loved ones to Answer the Call of Vanuatu come July and beyond.

This is fantastic news for the local tourism industry and future international travelers, says the CEO of the Vanuatu Tourism Office, Mrs. Adela Issachar Aru.

“We’ve kept Vanuatu beautiful, and we’re thrilled to be welcoming travelers back to our shores come July,” says Mrs. Issachar Aru. “We’ll be using the next two months to help ready our tourism operators and are working closely with the Ministry of Health, the Department of Tourism and other relevant stakeholders to ensure our people and visitors will be safe when they do travel. We’re inviting our Australians, Kiwis and New Caledonian consumers to Answer the Call of Vanuatu once again.”

So that we can welcome you back safely, Vanuatu’s Ministry of Health has a couple of measures in place to ensure the protection of both the People of Vanuatu and travelers and to combat the spread of Covid-19.

THE VANUATU ROADMAP TO SAFE BORDER REOPENING IN JULY

The Ministry of Health developed a Roadmap to Safe Recovery (version 2.1) in May 2022, which lays the path for returning to a ‘new normal’. The Roadmap defines a safe approach for reducing health restrictions to mitigate against the prolonged negative impacts of COVID-19 in Vanuatu.

Note: criteria for transitioning to recovery and between levels as well as the measures prescribed may therefore be subject to change.

Here’s what you need to know about travel to Vanuatu:

• Undertake a pre-departure test
• Undertake a health clearance ahead of departure
• Undertake arrival testing

However, for the safety of yourself and others, it is encouraged that you observe the following measures while in the country:

• Practice social distancing, by keeping at least 1.5 metres distance from others
• Maintain good hygiene, by washing your hands often and avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth
• Wear a mask in crowded spaces, hospitals and tourist areas and if you’re experiencing Covid-like symptoms
• Get a Covid test if you have Covid-like symptoms

If you contract Covid-19 during your travels, you will need to isolate for seven days in a managed hotel, Community Isolation Centre or at home (if requirements are met).

The details of the testing regime are currently being reviewed by the Health Advisory Committee (HEAC) at the Ministry of Health, and will be communicated in the next few days. We will ensure to communicate these details as soon as possible.
