The Vanuatu.travel website is operated by the Vanuatu Tourism Office, a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, Cap 142 of 1982 to encourage and assist the sustainable development of tourism industry within Vanuatu by undertaking coordinated tourism marketing in overseas and domestic markets.

With a shared vision with the tourism industry to celebrates Vanuatu’s culture and environment, empowers its people and captivates its visitors throughout the islands, the Vanuatu Tourism Office aims to promote what Vanuatu offers as competitive destination in the Pacific providing great authentic experiences for core tourism markets, delivering cultural and adventure experiences for the long haul and emerging markets.

The Vanuatu Tourism Office’s main function are stipulated by the Vanuatu Tourism Office Act under section 3 sub section 1 and sub section 2.
Vision & MISSION of the VANUATU TOURISM OFFICE

Identity Statement Vision:

The Vanuatu Tourism Office shares the same vision as the tourism industry, that was approved in 2014.

“Tourism celebrates Vanuatu’s culture and environment, empowers its people and captivates its visitors throughout the islands”.

Mission:

To generate international and domestic demand for Vanuatu tourism products and experiences as well as establish the country as a competitive tourism destination that will provide a key role in the recovery of the tourism industry.

Objectives:

  1. Increase visitation and yield to Vanuatu from the most profitable international markets.
  2. Increase visitation and demand in the domestic market.
  3. Undertake consumer and market research to inform decision making.
  4. Implement strategies to increase dispersal though out Vanuatu.
  5. Support the development of aviation and maritime access to Vanuatu.
  6. Ensure the Vanuatu Tourism Office adds positive value to the tourism industry in Vanuatu through its programs and activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Vanuatu Tourism Offices’ _key responsibility is the generation of awareness, interest, and demand for visitation to and around Vanuatu. We do this through the following: 

  • Understanding the consumer and their travel demands
  • Developing a consumer focus approach and use research and market intelligence to guide decision making and investments.
  • Deliver destination marketing, growing trade and distribution of content
  • Focus on market ready products and support the industry with a pathway to market by working with trade and distribution, travel centres, social media platforms, public relations, content, domestic marketing, and digital platforms.
  • Working in partnership – _with industry, Vanuatu Government and Departments, Aviation suppliers, Maritime suppliers, Donors and other agencies who impact the outcomes for tourism.
  • Advocacy for tourism related issues and programs
