Happening every Saturday from April to June! Welcome to the Land diving ritual performed by the men of the south Pentecost island. The awe-inspiring ceremony celebrates the yam harvest and is a fertility rite for men.
What happens?
The ritual, which started the idea of bungee jumping by Kiwi AJ Hackett, sees local men and boys as young as seven jump off wooden towers around 20 to 30 meters (66 to 98 ft) high, with only two tree vines wrapped around the ankles.
The tower?
Takes five weeks to build using vines and wooden stilts from the forest.
