Phone

In Vanuatu, there are two main telecommunication companies: Vodafone and Digicel. Both have stands at the international airport and stores in downtown Port Vila and Luganville. Their hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Saturday, 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Both operators offer tourist packages, and top-up cards can easily be purchased in shops or from street vendors under umbrellas marked by their provider’s colours.

There are also roaming agreements with some international mobile providers. Public phones can be found at airports and post offices, where phone cards are available for purchase.

Most of Vanuatu is covered by mobile networks, although reception can be inconsistent in remote areas. It is recommended to have a SIM card from both providers for better coverage.

To make international calls, dial 00, and for calls to Vanuatu, the country code is 678.

Internet

In Port Vila and Luganville, many cafés offer Wi-Fi, and some post offices provide internet access. Most hotels also offer Wi-Fi, though it may be at an additional cost. While connection speeds are improving, you can generally expect about 100 KB per second on a good day.

In the outer islands, internet access is generally unavailable. However, mobile internet from Vodafone or Digicel can be purchased, although connection reliability may vary.
