M E M O R A N D U M TO: ALL FINA MEMBER FEDERATIONS IN ASIA AND OCEANIA FROM: FINA Office, Lausanne DATE: 16th January 2017 RE: FINA OPEN WATER SWIMMING SCHOOL FOR OFFICIALS 20-21 May 2017 / Port Vila, Vanuatu (VAN) NUMBER OF PAGES INCLUDING THIS ONE: 4 Dear Friends, I have the pleasure to send you the following information related to the organisation of the FINA Open Water Swimming School for Officials scheduled to be held in Port Vila, Vanuatu (VAN), from 20 th to 21st May 2017. The purpose of this course is to achieve the following objectives: · Enlarge the number of officials and enhance the quality of the existing ones; · Create a uniform pattern of interpretation and application of Open Water Swimming rules, thus raising the quality of officiating; · Use the course as an instrument to develop and promote Open Water Swimming worldwide. Please note the following information related to the designation & courses for open water swimming officials: Ø Officials who have passed a FINA OWS School will receive a certification, which is valid for a 4-year period. Ø FINA OWS Officials List N° 12 (valid from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2020): all new applications, not including renewals, must have attended and passed a FINA OWS School. Ø FINA OWS Officials List N° 13 and all subsequent FINA OWS Officials Lists: all new applicants and renewals must have attended and passed a FINA OWS School. Please find below the details related to the organisation of this course: DATE: Arrival: 19th May 2017 Course: 20th – 21st May 2017 Departure: 21st May in the evening or 22nd May 2017 in the morning PARTICIPANTS: Each National Member Federation may nominate Open Water Swimming officials for this course. REGISTRATION: All participants must be registered by the 1 st May 2017 in the FINA General Management System (GMS) using your federation login details. Please kindly note that the specific discipline of the school must be added to the attendee’s GMS profile as well as his/her personal email address in order to submit the registration. NATIONALITY: Please take into consideration that when a competition official represents his/her country in a competition, he/she shall be a citizen, whether by birth or naturalisation, of the nation he/she represents, provided that a naturalised citizen shall have lived in that country for at least one year prior to that competition (FINA Handbook 2015-2017, General Rules 2.5). PLACE: Port Vila, Vanuatu ARRIVAL AIRPORT: Bauerfield International Airport (VLI) TRAVEL: Each National Federation is responsible for the travel expenses of the nominated officials. VISA SUPPORT: Please contact the Vanuatu Swimming Federation if you require visa assistance. ACCOMMODATION: Each National Federation will cover the accommodation expenses of the nominated officials.
