dataentry

This week, VTO's information, research and data staff have been given access to the Government's Asycuda arrival processing system via the Vanuatu National Statistics Office.

In past years, arrival data used solely for the international visitors survey has been collected through physical cards. This process is time-consuming and subject to delays. Four different government agencies took turns collecting the data relevant to their respective programs before the VTO could get access to the arrival cards, which are confidential information and property of the Government, and available for viewing only within VNSO premises.

With the introduction of the Asycuda system, arrival cards are scanned and uploaded to the system, and each agency can now access the cards just hours after each flight has landed. The system allows faster data collection and improved response conversion rates for the international visitors survey, providing a timely and valuable insight into the tourism industry on travel trends.
